Situated on Whitehall, next to Banqueting House, the Ministry of Defense and Gwydyr House, this Grade II* Listed Building has been Royal United Services Institute’s (RUSI) official home since 1895, when it was purpose built for them to the design of Sir Aston Webb.
Following recent acquisition of the freehold title, RUSI instigated the refurbishment and extension of the property to align the building to their present needs for a high-quality working environment, more suited to the various functions that they host.
Dendy Byrne were instructed post planning to project manage the works to completion.
The construction works comprise full refurbishment and alteration to the property, including the addition of a new storey and installation of a contemporary glazed dome to the rear.
As well as managing the project, we undertook extensive consultation with neighbours to assist our client in agreeing licenses for off-site welfare and site logistics, as well as negotiating the final position on party wall matters.
RUSI are the World’s oldest security think tank founded in 1831 by the 1st Duke of Wellington. They are now recognised as one of the top global think tanks on security.
